East Lancs Radio is based in Rossendale, Radio with a difference.

It is owned and operated by local Software and Web Site Design company Internet Solutions Services Limited.

The idea behind the rossendale radio station is to play music during the working day without having to listen to presenters talking. We got fed up with daytime radio with so much talking and found it to be distracting, whereas we found that an internet radio station that plays a wide variety of music to cater for the different ages within the office cheered people up and gave them a blast from the past with some tracks. We also found that with background music people seemed happier and so the office as a whole had a better atmosphere.

Being based in Rossendale Valley, East Lancashire we have very limited access to radio other than the BBC due to the geographic nature, any other radio stations using traditional methods have difficulty transmitting and the quality is not very good and usually breaks up. By using an Internet radio station it means that anyone in Rossendale and East Lancashire, in fact anywhere in the world can access great music all day every day without the need to listen in to presenters talk rubbish. We are very fortunate that our technical capabilities being an IT company (ISSL) meant that we could set this up quickly and efficiently and open it up to anyone and everyone that wants to listen.

We play album tracks as well as hit records and currently have about 10,000 tracks online. This number will of course grow as we add both current and new music and also older tracks to the database.

Over the next year we are looking to offer more functionality such as dedicating time to local bands and allow them to email in their own MP3s and promote themselves locally. We want local bands to have a local place that is free for them to air.

In addition we are building up our what's on guide, the number of times we have looked for places to go especially with live music and struggled to find information, we want to build up a list of events from anywhere in the region. To submit your events please email studio@east-lancs-radio.co.uk
